The electro-pop project Overcast is founded in March 2000 in Osnabrück Germany, by Albin Wagener, who was born in Luxembourg and has been influenced by English and German music. Albin is also is involved in a rock band called "Dawn", which he founded with his brother in 1998. Dawn disbands in February 2003 after having gained relative success with the single "Sun Fever".
Overcast's first album is recorded during the Summer 2002. It is called "Tales of December" and features nine tracks with trip-hop influences. In February 2003, Overcast releases the follow-up "Darker". On this album, Overcast uses darker sounds and intimate atmospheres, and replaces the ethereal trip-hop of the first album with gloomy songs. This album allows Albin to tour in France and to get signed to Gigawatts, a French association promoting electronic music. (www.gigawatts.fr.st). The highlight of this tour takes place on June 21st for the "Fëte de la Musique", where Albin receives the generous support of the FNAC (www.fnac.com) to play in the central "Place du Ralliement'" of Angers.
Albin writes loads of new songs while touring, and some of them are used for the new release called "Grand Hotel E.p.". This demo is far more mature than the two first recordings and combines electro-pop with a rougher sound. Albin now tries to get signed to a record label with this demo, in order to take his project one step further, very decided to move from his country if needed and to do everything he can.
Other projects : Overcast did a cover of New Order's " World " to figure on a New Order tribute album called " Community ", which should be available by the end of the year (www.newordercommunity.com). Albin will also write the score to a theatre play by Cédric David called "Nous n'aurons plus rien ŕ nous dire".
